How to Write and Submit an Op-ed For Publication
What it looks like to get published in a news outlet
Most of my writing is written for what you might label an evangelical audience. My columns for World and my occasional contributions to places like places Lifeway Research, The Gospel Coalition, ERLC, and Christianity Today are essentially for the broader Christian community. However, I also write for non-sectarian media outlets from time to time. I’ve had the privilege of seeing my work appear at Fox News, Huffington Post, Washington Post, Newsday, and others. Over the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to write fairly regularly for USA Today.
This kind of writing is typically called an “op-ed.” This means “opposite the editorial page.” Most major outlets have an editorial section where they feature opinions from their own columnists or from the editorial board. Op-eds however are opinions from outside contributors.
