Be a part of this special free event with ERLC on bringing hope in a divisive election season
What should Christians think about this divisive election season? Should Christians even do politics? How can we speak up for our beliefs and do it gracefully? These and more topics such as the future of the pro-life movement, and the wars in Ukraine and Israel will be discussed as well. It’s a free live event hosted by The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. My good friend Brent Leatherwood is the host. you can register for free here.
I’ll be in Nashville for this event. I’m also preaching this weekend at Tulip Grove Baptist Church for my friend and former colleague Chase Sears. This morning I’m headed to Washington, D.C. to speak at the MTS dinner hosted by Ministry to State, a wonderful outreach to Christians who work on the Hill.
A few updates on some other projects:
The Land Center released a survey, done in partnership with Lifeway Research that measured the beliefs of Southern Baptists on the role of the church and the state. Some new and interesting data here, most of which tells us that Southern Baptists affirm distinctive Baptist beliefs.
I wrote a review of a new book by historian and political scientist Mark David Hall, investigating the claim that there is a rising and dangerous cohort of Christian nationalists that threaten American democracy. Spoiler alert: there is not.
I’ve also been quoted a few times in several news outlets regarding the war in Ukraine. Dr. Richard Land (the namesake of our center) and I wrote a letter along with two prominent Ukrainian Baptist leaders alerting Speaker Mike Johnson to the mistreatment of Baptists and Evangelicals in Russian-occupied territories.
And lastly, I’ve begun work on my new book, due out sometime in 2025, in defense of Christian patriotism. I’m excited about this project. Now I just have to, you know, write the thing.
